Get advice — grab a bucket — fill and count — hang the bucket back — pay — done!

At all freely accessible soil bins on the SONNENERDE premises, black 12-liter buckets are hanging. How convenient! With these, you can help yourself to the loose soil piles and take small or very small quantities home inexpensively. Shovels are also available to fill the soil into the buckets without straining your back.

All our soils are stored dry or earth-moist under cover and are therefore always available in consistent quality.

Only our humus and lawn soil are stored ready for sale in open piles outdoors but are immediately covered with fleece in case of rain or snowfall.

SONNENERDE Tips:

  • Be sure to bring tear-resistant bags or other sturdy containers from home to fill bucket by bucket!
  • We kindly ask you to count the number of buckets you take and report this at the office or checkout after loading! At SONNENERDE, we operate on a trust basis: simply tell us how many 12-liter buckets you have taken and loaded.
  • During the peak season in spring—March to June—our sales staff also carry cash to handle your “earthy business” quickly and conveniently.

SONNENERDE by the Bag

Bagging: With our new bagging line, the individual soils are also packaged directly at our facility and offered in 20- or 30-liter bags.

Note: Plastic bags have “clean advantages”: clean hands, clean car, easy to handle, easy to store. Many customers greatly appreciate this convenience. Often, there is simply no other option. At SONNENERDE, we see our bagged products as a customer-friendly business segment that allows us to sell our soils in small quantities practically and conveniently. It’s a compromise. Yes. But a fruitful one!

We have also done many experiments with paper bags. Our soil is simply too active for them, and the paper bag would disintegrate in no time.

Important to note: Since our soils usually have a specific weight of 1 (20 liters = 20 kg) or more, larger bags that can be easily carried by one person are not possible here. But that definitely shouldn’t stop you.

Need more? Then we recommend our BigBags—giant bags! You don’t have to carry those yourself. Information is just a click away!

SONNENERDE BigBags

BigBags are large plastic bags that have a capacity of about 1 m³ = 1 ton, depending on the soil type and specific weight.

We fill these promptly for you upon order!

Loading is done on pallets using a crane or forklift. Various freight companies also deliver our BigBags directly to you.

SONNENERDE Tips:

  • BigBags are especially popular for various balcony and terrace plantings, and particularly for flat roof greening, as they can be lifted dry and securely directly by crane. This way, roof gardens with large flower pots can be filled evenly and conveniently, or larger areas can be applied directly at working height—without having to cover long distances or lift and carry heavy loads!
  • Our BigBags are single-use bags because we want to guarantee our customers that the soil only pours out when it’s supposed to!

SONNENERDE by the Shovel – Wheel Loader Loading

Our soils can be loaded quickly and easily onto any smaller or larger car or tractor trailer. Our wheel loader operators scoop up your desired soil mix in exactly the right amount and gently unload it into your transport vehicle.

During the peak season in spring—March to June—our sales staff also carry cash to handle your “earthy business” even more quickly and conveniently.
