With the help of this concentrate, you can produce Terra Preta in your own garden – there are several ways to do this:
- Work organic terra preta concentrate evenly into the soil. Even with the smallest amounts (from 10 liters per square meter), you will see significantly better growth results after the first application and the soil will become darker. With such low doses of 10 liters, you would have to repeat this amount annually and it would take several years for Terra Preta to actually develop in your garden. The larger the amount mixed in, the faster you will get Terra Preta. We recommend a maximum mixture ratio of 1:1 – i.e., mix 1 part soil with 1 part organic terra preta concentrate, or apply 10 cm and till it into the underlying 10 cm layer of soil.
- Apply as a “mulch layer” on top of the soil – e.g., in a layer thickness of 5 cm. The young plants can be planted directly into the concentrate. This variant is recommended for all “no-dig” gardening enthusiasts – no soil cultivation is required. The earthworms will multiply rapidly and gradually work this concentrate into the underlying soil, or mix it with the soil.
- As a concentrate directly in the planting hole: When planting trees or shrubs, pour a few liters of the concentrate directly into the planting hole. This organic black earth concentrate is then rooted through first, and the young plants start growing vigorously. At the same time, soil formation begins all around.
We recommend our organic terra preta concentrate, especially if the application site is located further away from our factory. This saves around 50% of transport costs. The concentrate is 100% plant-compatible, meaning that all crops can be planted directly into the concentrate.
Organic biochar and rock flour are composted in the correct proportions (and large volumes). After 4 weeks of intensive rotting on small piles, 10% clay is mixed in and rotted for another 4 weeks on small piles. We then sieve the concentrate out of the compost using a 15 mm sieve. The sieving process results in predominantly “charged” organic biochar, which has been “activated” with the optimal composition of nutrients and microbiology. Due to the long and intensive composting on small piles, this concentrate is 100% plant-compatible and ranks, so to speak, between organic terra preta soil (= finished soil) and organic soil activator (= fertilizer).
