Lawn soil is THE soil for your home garden if you want to have a really beautiful lawn, and can be used as follows:
Renovation of lawns in home gardens: Leveling out uneven areas and improving permeability and humus content. Lawn soil can be applied to existing lawns in any layer thickness to create a new, level seedbed. If the lawn has been completely covered, these areas must be reseeded.
Creating new lawns: Layer thickness at least 5 cm. Thanks to its homogeneity and very fine structure, this soil is very easy to work with and creates an optimal seedbed.
Creation of ornamental plant beds: With a layer thickness of 20 cm, this soil is very well suited for ornamental plant beds – however, additional starter fertilization is recommended here, namely 1 kg of horn shavings per m².
Tips for laying new turf:
- Apply soil and level it out.
- Roll it lightly.
- Even out any uneven areas.
- Sow the turf evenly.
- Rake the seeds in to a depth of up to 2 cm.
- Roll it lightly.
- Keep the surface moist until the area is evenly green.
Important: The right time to sow is April-June and September-November. In midsummer, the surface temperature of the soil can reach up to 60 °C—even the best seeds can't withstand that!
Thanks to the optimal mixture of sand, silt, and compost, this soil guarantees very rapid germination and growth of grass seeds. Within a few weeks, you will have a perfect lawn. The nutrient content is optimized—light fertilization with nitrogen is recommended only in the second year. Thanks to its fine, crumbly structure, this soil is very easy to work with and spread by hand—so there is no need to break up clumps or laboriously till the ground with a rotary tiller.
The quality of this soil is clearly noticeable in subsequent years – thanks to the optimization of water storage and water permeability, there is no waterlogging on the one hand, while on the other hand, rainwater can still be stored very well for weeks and released to the plants. This reduces the amount of watering and maintenance required to a minimum.
