The new biochar production plant will be really advantageous compared to other CO2 binding technologies and about 10 times larger than the current plant. For this purpose, we have developed a completely new plant concept. In the past 10 years, around 2,000 tons of biochar have been produced. - In terms of energy, the production of biochar is optimized down to the last detail - there is nothing comparable in the world:
- Direct heat transfer to the biomass —> VERY high efficiency in biochar production.
- Direct high-temperature waste heat/exhaust gas utilization (300 °C) for contract drying of sewage sludge - at the same time, the exhaust gas is cleaned in the drying process.
- By condensing, the heat can be used again at approximately 55 °C for drying the biomass and for heating halls and office.
- Flue gas scrubbers wash out ammonium sulphate —> this is nitrogen, we spray it back onto the coal and precharge it with.
- Last but not least: The biochar is mixed/ground into finished products, etc. —> So we create CO2 sinks with additional benefits for the buyer of the products (e.g. organic black earth).
- The photovoltaic system on the roof will be expanded in order to operate the entire system as energy self-sufficient as possible.
- With the purchase of CO2 certificates, the investor supports our special combination of the system, which only has advantages (compared to other CO2 binding technologies). The aim is to duplicate this plant concept at other locations in the future.
